History of Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’s Donuts was established in 1950 by Bill Rosenberg in Canton, Massachusetts, USA. It was earlier started with the name Open Kettle in 1948. His long experience of selling food at construction sites and industries helped him to run the business successfully. A few years later, Bill sold numerous franchises to other business people in 1955.

The company made differences in its menu and provided different foods at different locations. Some outlets used to sell only breakfast items, whereas others used to sell coffee and donuts.

By 1980, the restaurant made a few changes in its cups. It started serving coffee and beverages to the customers in paper cups. It continued to grow and expand by 1990 and purchased Mister Donut and Dawn Donuts chains.

The restaurant continued to offer donuts cut by the machine. It adopted a new store design and relocated its headquarters to Canton, Massachusetts. In 2018, Dunkin’ Donuts adopted new store designs and other new things such as cold beverages, attractive décor and pick-up lines for orders.

Finally, Inspire Brands took over Dunkin’ Brands Group for about $11.3 billion. Dunkin’ Mister Donut and Baskin Robbins became a part of Inspire Brands.
